Many Smart Fortwo owners aren’t aware, that there is a hidden fuel cap holder on the fuel door/flap.
This prevents the cap from dangling down, scratching the cars plastic, and getting dirt in the fuel tank via the cap.
The Smart Fortwo 451 has a under-dimensioned plastic ridge, that holds the fuel cap while you fill it’s tank:

It could have been higher, because sometimes it’s blown off.
I’m sure that the 453, 452 and Roadster have similar holders, but I haven’t yet tried to fill fuel on one.
Does your car have a fuel cap holder, and if so, do you use it, or leave it dangling in its strap?
