Since the first Smart car left the factory, there has been a growing list of models on offer.
Some of these have been built by Mercedes, some in partnership with, Mitsubishi, Renault and latest Geely.
Smart Fortwo

The original Smart Fortwo was in production between 1998 and 2007.
Originally it was called the City-Coupé, but rebranded as the Smart Fortwo after a facelift in 2002.
Together with the facelift, Smart released 2.000 numbered examples of the roof and windshieldless Smart Crossblade.
Japan was gifted a narrower Smart K, adapted to their Kei car legislation.

The second version, was produced between 2006 and 2014.
This was the first official version, that was released with a fully electrical model.

The third version was built in cooperation with Renault between 2014 and 2024. The last years it was exclusively sold as an electric vehicle.
Smart ForFour

The first Smart ForFour was built on the same platform as the Mitsubishi Colt, between 2004 and 2006

After a few ForFourless years, Smart and Renault cooperated on making a new rear engined platform for the Fortwo, Forfour and Twingo.
